Personalized Medicine – Panacea or Pipedream?

“Personalized medicine” has been the subject of rhetorical extremes. On the one hand, there have been claims that personalized medicine is on the verge of revolutionizing healthcare, making it possible to tailor individual therapies to meet the specific needs of each patient. On the other hand, there are counterclaims that these visions of personalized medicine are mostly futuristic hype, and that personalized medicine’s promises will remain unfulfilled for many years.
